Saco Valley Land Trust
As our region grows, and development of all kinds spreads out from the city centers, the role our preserved lands play will change and become more valuable.
There are
few large undeveloped blocks of land left in southern Maine.
Saco Valley Land Trust’s role is one of advocacy for the necessity of open spaces and support for landowners who may need assistance in formulating their conservation plans.
The Trust offers a way that local residents can donate their time or financial support to insure that this area’s rural heritage and urban wild spaces are given the importance they deserve as necessities of a truly livable community.
Our mission blends well with other local groups who encourage trail use, preservation of local plant and wildlife habitat, wetlands and riparian zones, and the needs of migrating birds.
Open fields, farmland and woodland
of various types and maturity all play a part in quality of place, for wildlife and humans.
